Introduction

The Training Division was established in Poprad on October 1st 2006 as corporate division of The Instutute of Urbanism, The Institute of Design and SPECTRA – Centre of Ecellence at the Faculty of Architecture. The Division became an administrative part of SPECTRA.

Focus of activities

The Division is focused on three primary assignments – scientific and research assignment, pedagogical assignment and expertise assignment.

The research at the division is focused on the methods and instruments of virtual modeling with computer aid as a facility of verifying urban, architectural and design projects. The virtual form of the projects uses the possibilities of digital technologies and searches for their optimal utilization for the needs of pojectant praxis and thereby it allows the verification of the project aims fullfillment.

The Division provides educational activity in relation to research and its contentual focus within the graduate and postgraduate study at the Faculty of Architecture forcefully to life-long education in conection to particularity and needs of the praxis in the region of its acitivity. The Division is providing training programs in CAD systems and extended education of the home faculty.

The third assignment is the practical use and application of the knowledge in real enviroment. The Division is first of all focused to regional acitivity, where it identifies the problems in the field of spatial development and it looks for solutions by oppotunity studies with cooperation of the local authorities.

The following direct application of selected solution into real enviroment allows to collect the facts and compare them to the model solution. The impact to the regional spatial development of the study is evaluated in confrontation.

Individual assigments are subserved by scientific and pedagogical operatives, research operatives and technical operatives with involvement of students and with cooperation of external cooperatives from praxis via scientific-research and educational grants, projects, workshops, seminares and so one.
