Summer School: ADAPTIVE GOVERNANCE: SPATIAL, TEMPORAL AND CULTURAL CONSTRAINTS AND OPPORTUNITIES

SPECTRA Centre of Excellencie participates on Summer School:  "ADAPTIVE GOVERNANCE: SPATIAL, TEMPORAL AND CULTURAL CONSTRAINTS  AND OPPORTUNITIES". The Summer School – the 1st Module – is hosted by EC Tempus Project No. 511390: Environmental Governance for Environmental Curricula at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia and is organized in co-operation with the Centre for Transdisciplinary Study of Institutions, Evolutions and Policies (CETIP) in Bratislava, Slovakia, Centre for Excellence Spectra+ in Bratislava, Slovakia and other partners´ organisations (University J. E. Purkyně, Ústí n. L., Czech Republic Central European University in Budapest, Hungary, Regional Environmental Centre, Slovakia and Bratislava City Hall, Slovakia).

annual Spa-ce.net Conference, 25th-27th September 2013, in Dresden, Germany

Spectra, Centre of Excellence will take part on the annual Spa-ce.net Conference, held in 25th-27th September 2013, in Dresden (Germany) at the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development (IOER). Spa-ce.net, an institutional network of unviversities and other scientific bodies focused on spatial planning, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The headline of the 10th Network Conference is „Role and Future of Spatial Planning in Central, Eastern and South Eastern Europe“. With 20 presentations and speakers from 10 countries we have a great spectrum of exciting topics. Spectra, Centre of Excellence will be represented by prof. Maroš Finka and dr. Matej Jaššo and their joint paper „Specifics and Recent Development of Central European Planning Culture“.

Summer University for Highschools September 2014

Institute of Management and Spectra, Centre of Excellence took part at the programme of Summer University for Highschools, held in 11.-12. September 2014 at STU Bratislava. Event was prepared for the students of Slovak highschools attending the future university bachelor studies. Prof. Maroš Finka entirely introduced the study programme Spatial planning. Dr.Matej Jaššo reffered on students project “City as a Personality and its Manifestation in Urban Semiotics”. Our PhD students J. Szuhová, M. Turzová and M.Lazarová introduced the table game “Planning game of the revitalization of a given area”.

Urban Resilience

Acceleration of the spatial development has generated an increased probability of having to face negative effects of globalisation as well as EU integration. Recent economic and financial crisis highlighted this risk and created threats which were not acute some years ago. Fragile spatial and societal structures have been exposed to huge pressure originated either from international markets, unfavourable demographic prognosis, environmental hazards or other sources of risk. Urban resilience is the ability of cities and municipalities to absorb, cope and overcome these setbacks.

SPECTRA CE EU in the United Nation

On April 27th,  016 presented prof. Maros Finka, director of the SPECTRA CE EU at the Slovak University in Bratislava in the United Nation Organization headquarter in New York his statement on report of the Policy Unit 9 Urban services and technologies. His presentation got very positive reaction in the frame of Open-ended consultative meetings to the preparation of the UNO World Conference HABITAT  III held in Quito, Equator.

Students of Institute of Management of STU utilised their skills for SMART Bratislava and Brno

Institute of Management STU in colaboration with City of Bratislava, City of Brno and Masaryk University in Brno have prepared the 6th edition of international student competition MUNISS. It is a platform where the students from both cities share their creative ideas for urban development of respective cities.

The project „Black holes“ has been awarded

The project „Black Holes“, elaborated by the PhD student of Spatial Planning and member of Spectra, Centre Excellence Miroslav Beňák has been awarded the prize MOST 2016. Main prize MOST has been continuosly awarded for last 11 years to young volunteers who in their leisure time are contributing to aestethisation of the public spaces and urban environment in general. There were more than 100 projects among the nominations.

Spectra, Centre of Excellence and Slovak University of Technology (STU) develop new cooperation in Sri Lanka

Team of Spectra, Centre of Excellence and STU (Prof. Finka, Assoc. Prof. Petríková, Dr. Ondrejička, Dr. Jamečný, Dr. Ondrejičková) is co-organising series of 8 workshops in Sri Lanka cities Colombo and Kandy. The events under the cover of EU ERASMUS+ are dedicated to the New Urban Agenda approved in October 2016 during UNO Habitat III summit in Quito.

BhENEFIT

BhENEFIT is a project funded by the EU within the regional cooperation programme ‘Interreg-Central Europe’. The Municipality of Mantova is the leading partner of a consortium of 13 partners from 7 different European countries, which will work together for the next 30 months to develop a toolbox of integrated systems for the sustainable management of historical urban areas. The project has kicked off in Mantova, where all the active partners, plus 1 observer partner and the official representatives of the programme gathered in July 2017.
